York's sprawling Victorian cemetery is run by the York Cemetery Trust as a live cemetery, educational centre, nature reserve and event venue.
The site aims to present all these aspects as well as trying to make the cemetery a more visable attraction
for potential tourists by being represented on the web.
One feature of the site is the Virtual Cemetery Tour which covers a selection of military graves from the Crimean war to the Second World War.
This is presented in an attempt to publicise the wealth of historical information collected and archived by the Trust which can be accessed by arrangement.
The site is now hosted and run by the Cemetery Trust.
