The Base Online, www.thebaseonline.co.uk, 1999 - 2001 |
For a year I worked as a full time designer on The Base, Carlton's music site. With the Senior designer Alan Benzie, I worked on several complete redesigns of the site as well as producing daily features, interviews and mini-sites. Editorial content was provided by
a team of 6 journalists and the site featured streaming video and audio interviews with bands and artists.
The site was constructed using The Base bespoke content management system, which meant all the pages could be built in small interchangable modules, allowing for
quick changes and movement and replacement of images and feature teasers.
In 2001 I was the designer for The Base Festivals mini-site which covered the music festival season with previews, reviews and features.
The Base was axed by Carlton in October 2001, when the business direction was changed towards agency work rather than customer facing sites.
